2022 Annual Member’s Meeting: KCHD, 5 Feb 2022

Our next annual meeting is scheduled for the morning of Saturday, 5 February 2022 at the Chandler Airport terminal building, from 10am to 12pm. We’ll cater breakfast for the meeting at 9:30am from Einstein Brothers.

We’ll be discussing strategic matters not regularly covered in monthly meetings, such as but not limited to:

  • Refreshers on and updates to club procedures (you’ll probably want to take notes!),
  • Updates on the change to digital dispatch of aircraft and retiring paper tickets,
  • The replacement aircraft.

Board Elections

We also have three officers up for election at the annual meeting. Active club members elect officers to the Board, and the Board subsequently allocates themselves to the positions.

  • Mike R., currently in the role of Secretary.
  • Jason B., currently in the role of Treasurer.
  • J.C. J., currently in the role of Operations Officer.

The other board members have another year left in their terms.

RSVP

Please RSVP via this Google Form so we can have an accurate count for breakfast.

2021 Virtual Annual Meeting: 26 January

Our 2021 Annual Meeting will be virtual this year, and as such we’ve decided to schedule it at our normal Tuesday night for January, on the 26th at 7pm.

Officer Elections

The following officers are up for re-election this year:

  • Jeff Q., currently President
  • Neil T., currently Vice President
  • Ken C., currently Maintenance Officer

The membership elects officers to the Board, and the Board subsequently allocates themselves to the positions.

RSVP

No need to RSVP this year. If you aren’t already on the invitation mailing list, please Contact Us for instructions on how to get added.

2020 Annual Meeting, 15 February

Phoenix Flyers will be hosting its annual members’ meeting the morning of 15 February at Chandler Airport’s terminal. Breakfast should be there at 8:30am, with the meeting to begin at 9am.

The annual meeting is an opportunity to go into more detail about the club, and more strategic details, than the standard monthly business meetings.

Topics

We’ll be discussing strategic matters not regularly covered in monthly meetings, such as but not limited to:

  • Updates to club procedures,
  • Changing to digital dispatch of aircraft, retiring paper tickets,
  • The replacement aircraft.

We will also be discussing a potential equity stake increase for all members, to increase capital on-hand for the new aircraft purchase.

Per Section XV of the Club Bylaws, a majority of club members in attendance would need to approve such a change. Details on the proposal are to-come, though it will also likely be discussed at the January meeting.

Elections

We also have four officer positions up for election:

  • Secretary, currently handled by Mike Ricker.
  • Treasurer, currently handled by Jason Brookham.
  • Operations, currently handled by J.C. Jones.
  • Safety, currently handled by Neil Tracht.

The other positions, President, Vice President, and Maintenance, have another year left in their terms.

December 2019 meeting cancelled

As our standard meeting slot for December 2019 coincides with Christmas Eve, we will not have a business meeting this month.

At the start of the new year we’ll be having our Annual Member’s Meeting. Stay tuned for more information on that.

Monthly Business Meetings are now Video-Conferences

For years we’ve met on the fourth Tuesday of each month, alternating between our airports. After some trials, beginning with using Skype and Google Hangouts, we’ve settled that going forward our regularly-scheduled business meeting will be conducted remotely via video-conference, initially via Zoom.

These meetings are still listed on our Events calendar and the footer of each web page.

In-Person Social Events

We’re making this shift to make our business meeting as accessible as possible — but we still enjoy each others’ company! So we’re going to plan to come together at least quarterly somewhere near the midpoint of Deer Valley and Chandler for a social event. We’re discussing this on our Facebook discussion group. This may or may not take the place of that month’s business meeting. The calendar will be kept up-to-date to the best of our ability – but do please RSVP via the means listed in the event.

Still Open To All

All of our meetings are still open to the public. Please see the individual event for details on how to get the meeting link for that month, or Contact Us here via the website.

Annual Meeting – 2 February 2019

The 2019 annual all-hands meeting will be on Saturday, 2 February 2019. We will meet for an unhosted social breakfast at the Deer Valley Airport Restaurant at 9:30am. [Google Calendar event]

After breakfast, we will move upstairs to the 2nd floor conference room for the meeting, approximately at 10:30am, adjourning at approximately noon. [Google Calendar event]

Topics

We will certainly be discussing the sale of N9014P and the plans for its replacement.

There will also be specific discussion on how to increase social interactions within our club. Certainly our private Facebook group is a fun place to collaborate, but the real world — and its skies — beckon.

Four officers’ positions are also up for election:

  • President, currently handled by Jeff.
  • Vice President, currently handled by Neil.
  • Maintenance Officer, currently handled by Ken.
  • Secretary, currently vacant.

What’s next?

It’s hard to say for sure. Certainly it will be a major subject of our upcoming Annual Meeting. In keeping with our general policies though, it will be a 2000s-era high performance single.

Updated Operations Manual

The Board has issued a new version of the Operations Manual, dated June 2018. It’s available to download here:

The updates include codifying our reciprocity between glass-cockpit, non-glass, and non-high-performance aircraft. A tabular form of that reciprocity is on the FAQ for ‘What are the requirements for an aircraft checkout?

List of updates

Section 5.5 Defined annual checkride reciprocity from glass-cockpit aircraft to non-glass aircraft.
Section 6.3 Removed outdated reference to a phone reservation system.
Section 8.8 Deleted references to annotating CHD and DVT fuel receipts, which is no longer needed.
Section 12.3.3 Deleted section for submitting CHD and DVT fuel receipts, which are now delivered electronically.
Section 12.3.6 Noted that membership shares are always repaid by the club, even with a waitlist, and removed 13.3.6.4 that permitted refund of a member’s application fee while a waitlist was in effect.
